Oh yes they did. Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros have a new album coming out on July 23rd. On that self-titled album will be the song ‘Better Days’. The video features footage from a little movie called Breakin’. Well technically Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo. But still, it’s Breakin’.

Breakin’ was released in 1984 and was easily one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. In college, I remembered this movie one random night (probably over drinks, remenescing about a better decade) and decided to order it on eBay. Let’s just say watching this movie at age 6, versus age 20, was a slightly different experience. It’s completely ridiculous. I think I made it about half way through and then started to have serious doubts about the quality of my childhood if this film was an integral part of it. I don’t blame my parents. I think I blame my brother. Or just the 80s in general.

But a few years later, and with some updated music, Edward Sharpe has brought me back to appreciating this movie for what it is really meant to be appreciated for: clothes and dance moves. So take it in, and if you really want to see the full film, email me – I’ll sell you my copy.
